NetApp has announced the North American availability of NetApp Private Storage for Amazon Web Services (AWS), a storage solution that leverages AWS Direct Connect to link on-premise NetApp storage with Amazon’s cloud platform.

The new solution is oriented towards organizations looking to extend their IT infrastructure into the cloud, in order to benefit from AWS’ scalable infrastructure to power applications, disaster recovery, and development and test infrastructure. The new solution provides NFS and CIFS support to smooth integration with legacy applications.

NetApp Private Storage for AWS offers NetApp customers access to other Amazon cloud technology including Amazon Elastic Map Reduce (EMR) for big data analysis and Amazon Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2) for failover scenarios and Amazon S3 for tiered disk backup and recovery.

Availability

NetApp Private Storage for AWS is now available through North American resellers, and will be available in Europe and Asia in the near future.
