Netgear has announced its latest network storage device line, the ReadyNAS Ultra series. One of the biggest features of the ReadyNAS Ultra is its ability to stream media to and offload media from TiVo devices, greatly expanding how much users can store. Another important feature is its integration with Orb, allowing unprotected files to be shared with mobile devices (iPhone/Android/BlackBerry).
The ReadyNAS Ultra supports DLNA streaming via the Skifta media shiftiing service, meaning it can be remotely accessed from any DLNA device.
The ReadyNAS Ultra series has two models; the Ultra 4 and the Ultra 6. The Ultra 4 includes a single-core Intel Atom processor and space for two drives while the Ultra 6 has three hard drive bays and a dual-core processor. RAID 0/1/5/6 are supported along with 3TB hard drives with the new 4k sector advanced format.
The ReadyNAS Ultra will be available in mid-July; the Ultra 4 with 4TB of storage (2x 2TB drives) will be MSRP $899.99 (or $599.99 without drives) and the Ultra 6 with 6TB of storage (3x 2TB drives) will be $1,349.99 ($899.99 without drives).
