Fujitsu has announced the availability of new offerings that help customers utilize big data, with additional products gradually rolling out worldwide. The new solutions are part of two product families: a line of parallel distributed processing and complex event processing products and a line of products to employ big data itself. These products are a commercialization of the technologies developed by Fujitsu for its own big data platform, Data Utilization Platform Services.
Smartphones, tablet devices, sensors and IC tags have caused the amount of data produced in daily life to grow at an explosive pace. Companies are keen to use big data in their business activities to discover trends and make predictions from diverse data sources. Fujitsu’s Data Utilization Platform Services was launched earlier this year for gathering, compiling, and integrating massive quantities of sensing data, processing it using real-time processing or batch processing, and employing it for purposes such as making predictions.
The new offerings include Interstage Big Data Complex Event Processing Server V1, a complex event processing solution, and Interstage eXtreme Transaction Processing Server V1, a transaction solution, both delivered now as on-premise software.
Fujitsu’s Big Data Software
The new products are all based on Fujitsu’s enterprise-scale cloud technologies, which mean they can coordinate and share monitoring and batch operations. Taken as a collection, Fujitsu’s big data offerings cover a lot of ground in enterprise data storage, management, and analysis.
- Interstage Big Data Parallel Processing Server V1 improves data reliability by combining the Apache Hadoop open source big data parallel distributed processing platform with Fujitsu’s own proprietary distributed file system.
- Interstage Big Data Complex Event Processing Server V1 helps make complex event processing easy-to-use for cloud-scale storage.
- Interstage eXtreme Transaction Processing Server V1 has a proven record with Fujitsu’s Primesoft Server, enabling high-speed processing through in-memory distributed cache technology while safeguarding data using a redundant configuration of up to three layers.
- PRIMECLUSTER, Fujitsu’s propritary filesystem, ensures overall system reliability by automatically switching over structural elements in systems such as servers, storage units and networks, quickly detecting defects, performing operational failover and eliminating abnormal areas.
- Interstage Shunsaku Data Manager employs an indexless technique that responds quickly to changes in needs and data, facilitating information utilization.
- Primesoft Server enables high response and high-throughput performance via access to memory-embedded data on a microsecond level.
- Symfoware Server V11 (FY2012) will be enhanced to use parallel I/O technology optimized for SSD memory at up to 10 times conventional speeds, and compression technology that can reduce data by up to 80% for high-performance OLTP.
- Interstage Business Analytics Modeling Server (second half of FY2012) leverages machine translation technology to perform analyses and forecasts by linking events in chronological order.
In addition to incorporating proprietary Fujitsu big data technologies, these solutions are engineered for easy deployment and operation. They employ an open interface that is compatible with many major tools for using big data, and can also be combined with products from other vendors, including Informatica PowerCenter and open-source software packages such as Apache Mahout, to build ecosystems that support organization-specific uses for big data.
