Today Fusion-io released new PCIe SSDs under the ioDrive2 family. These include a single processor ioDrive2 and dual-processor ioDrive2 Duo, which is an updated version of the 640GB ioDrive Duo we reviewed last month. The new models expand the capacity options up to 1.2TB on the ioDrive2 and 2.4TB on the ioDrive2 Duo.

It comes as no surprise that the latest generation models offer greater speeds, as well as increased capacities. Going from the specifications released of the new ioDrive2 Duo compared to the ioDrive Duo, the new model pushes 922,000 versus 285,000 write IOPS with 512-byte packets. Sequential transfers speeds have also nearly doubled, going from 1.5GB/s read and 1.0GB/s write to 2.6GB/s read and 2.4GB/s write.

Both models will be offered in SLC and MLC versions, with prices starting at $5,950. Capacities include 365GB, 785GB, 1,205GB, 2.4TB for the MLC ioDrive2 and ioDrive2 Duo, with SLC models including 400GB, 600GB, and 1.2TB. Fusion-io says MLC models will be available this November with SLC versions coming out shortly after.
