Lenovo announced new storage arrays, the ThinkSystem DG Enterprise Storage Arrays and the ThinkSystem DM3010H Enterprise Storage Arrays, designed to make it easier for organizations to enable AI workloads. They also announced two new ThinkAgile SXM Microsoft Azure Stack solutions that enable a unified hybrid cloud solution to address the growing data, security, and sustainability requirements.
The new flash storage solutions provide customers with a path to deploy AI workloads efficiently and securely from edge to cloud, enabling workload consolidation and delivering faster insights with ransomware protection.
Increased Performance and Faster Data Insights
Data management has become even more challenging with the need to address the complexities of diverse data and how that data is stored, analyzed, and managed. According to Lenovo, the new storage arrays help customers deal with the challenges of managing data located in multiple locations, eliminating data silos, and accelerating insights from data across hybrid multicloud environments.
The ThinkSystem DG Enterprise Storage Arrays feature an all-flash Quad-level Cell (QLC) architecture with 6x faster IOPs performance vs. HDD arrays. They are designed specifically for read-intensive enterprise AI workloads and large dataset workloads, providing faster data intake and speeding up time to insight.
The ThinkSystem DM3010H Enterprise Storage Array is a next-gen hybrid unified storage solution designed for SMB customers and can scale up to 27.6 PB. These arrays offer flexibility for various workloads, including file services, virtualization, backup and archive, and other I/O applications.
ThinkAgile SXM4600 and SXM660 servers are integrated systems for Microsoft Azure Stack Hub designed to simplify and accelerate time to value for Azure Hybrid and Multicloud ecosystems. The new ThinkAgile servers deliver up to a 77 percent increase in transactional database performance and up to a 3 to 1 better consolidation for Microsoft applications compared to Dell Gen 14 and HPE Gen 10 platforms.
The ThinkAgile SXM servers are designed with full-stack lifecycle management, native Azure integration, and extends applications across public and private clouds.
Simplified Data Management For Efficient Operations
The new DG and DM storage solutions leverage the Lenovo Unified Complete Software suite that includes ransomware and data protection features designed to preserve and protect valuable business data throughout its lifecycle, reducing risk and mitigating costs associated with data intrusion and loss.
The unified management software provides customers with out-of-the-box features like built-in ransomware protection, multi-tenant key management, and immutable file copies that prevent ransomware file changes.
The DG arrays have been designed for higher efficiency and lower power and cooling requirements to help customers meet environmental and sustainability goals. The DG storage solutions deliver up to 25 percent power savings over previous-generation technology. With workload consolidation, these arrays will help reduce rack space and data center footprint.
Lenovo Helps Novo Genomics Accelerate Insights
Novo Genomics, a biotech startup specializing in genomics and multiomics, develops personalized medical treatments for genetic diseases. With next-gen sequencing (NGS) techniques helping to reduce the time and cost of DNA sequencing, high-performance computing (HPC) technology has made it possible to perform genomics sequencing for entire populations. To manage the increased volume and velocity of data generated through HPC and support accelerated genomics analysis, Novo Genomics worked with Lenovo to deploy two Genomics Optimization and Scalability Tool (GOAST) nodes based on an Intel Select Solution.
According to a Novo Genomics researcher, they can process a batch of 32 exams in parallel in as little as three hours—delivering 27 times faster analysis. The Lenovo solution analyzed an entire human genome in less than an hour.
