Mushkin Announces SandForce SF-2000-Powered SSDs
Mushkin has announced a new series of Solid State Drives (SSDs) based on the SandForce enterprise-class SF-2000 series processors. The Mushkin EP Series SSDs have the following features:
- Up to 500MB/s read/write sequential transfer rate
- Up to 60,000 sustained random read/write IOPS
- Advanced ECC with up to 55 bits correctable per 512-byte sector (BCH)
- Power/performance throttling for improved energy efficiency and conservation
Sampling is expected to begin in 4Q this year; product availability is expected in Q1 of next year.
Kingston Announces 32GB microSDHC Card
Kingston has announced its new 32GB microSDHC Class 4 card. microSDHC cards are typically used in smartphones and other mobile devices. It has been tested to work with the HTC Evo 4G and Shadow, Motorola Droid X, RIM BlackBerry Bold 9000, and Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant.
The 32GB microSDHC card will be available with a variety of adapters including SD and miniSD; it will also be offered with a small USB reader. The card will begin shipping on 11 October and is backed by a lifetime warranty. The card itself has an MSRP $153; kits with adapters range from $155 – $159.
Buffalo Rolls Out NAS WebAccess iPhone/iPad Apps
Buffalo Technology has announced its free WebAccess i app for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch and the WebAccess i HD app for the iPad. The WebAccess app allows users to access and stream digital content from a Buffalo NAS to their mobile devices over 3G or WiFi.
The app is available for free at the Apple iTunes store. It can be used with any currently-shipping Buffalo LinkStation (except the LinkStation Quad – LS-QL series) and TeraStation network storage device.
