AWS Outposts Supports Amazon RDS
Amazon announced that its AWS Outposts now supports Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS). This is ideal for the customer who needs to leverage RDS but needs high processing and low latency. RDS on AWS Outposts is available now.
Dynatrace Launches Kubernetes Infrastructure Support
Dynatrace’s Software Intelligence Platform has been extended to provide AI-powered observability into the infrastructure layer of Kubernetes environments to include every container, pod, node, and cluster. Benefits include:
- Easily identify failed and pending pods by understanding the pod phases of your workloads
- Find the most resource intensive pods and be proactively alerted if they aren’t running as expected
- Manage visibility into your observability data based on Kubernetes labels
OwnBackup Secures $50M In Funding
OwnBackup, known for being backup and DR for Salesforce, announced $50 million in funding. This round of funding was led by Insight partners with participation from Salesforce Ventures and Vertex Ventures. The company claims to have raised over $100 million in total.
IGEL OS Delivers Microsoft Teams Optimization with Citrix
IGEL announced that its OS is the first to deliver Microsoft Teams optimization with the Citrix Workspace App Linux Client. This is a merger of technologies that is highly appealing to remote workers. This is said to combine Microsoft Teams and Citrix Workspace App to give users immersive, high-fidelity calling, online meetings, chat and collaboration directly from their Citrix VDI workspace.
US Signal Announces VMware Cloud Verified Status
US Signal announced that it has achieved VMware Cloud Verified Status. This is a big deal to US Signal as they can leverages VMware’s global network of more than 4,300 VMware cloud providers leverages VMware’s consistent cloud infrastructure to offer a wide array of services, provide geographic and industry specialization and help customers meet complex regulatory requirements.
The LTO Program Reports Record Breaking Capacity Shipments
The LTO Program Technology Provider Companies (TPCs), Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM Corporation and Quantum released their annual tape media shipment report for YoY shipments. The report showed that in 2019 114,079PB of tape capacity was shipped. This is up after a slight decline in 2018.
NVIDIA & Lenovo Expand Partnership
NVIDIA and Lenovo are expanding their partnership this fall. Lenovo will begin providing NVIDIA Mellanox Spectrum Ethernet switches to its customers in selected integrated solutions, this will be in addition to the NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand switches already offered by Lenovo. The new lineup includes:
- Lenovo ThinkAgile SX for Microsoft Azure Stack for hybrid cloud
- Lenovo ThinkAgile CP series for enterprise private cloud
- Lenovo ThinkAgile HX HCI for SAP HANA
MariaDB Announces $25 Million In Funding
MariaDB announced that it raised an additional $25 million in its current funding round. This round was led by SmartFin Capital, with participation from existing investors and new investor GP Bullhound. Total money raised by the company is now over $125 million.
