Supermicro’s 1U Server Is Optimized With Samsung’s NF1 NVMe Storage
Supermicro announced that its 1U SSG-1029P-NMR36L storage server now supports the new Samsung NF1 NVMe form factor. That means in only 1U, up to 576TB of NVMe flash storage can be housed. Not only will this bump up performance but the server comes with Intel Xeon Scalable CPUs and up to 3TB of RAM.
QSAN’s XCube Product Series Certified With ATTO HBAs
QSAN announced that its XCude-product Series is now certified with ATTO Technology HBAs. According to the QSAN’s certification Celerity 16Gb Gen 6 FC and FastFrame 10GbE NICs HBAs (Host Bus Adapters) are verified as compatible with QSAN XCubeFAS (all-flash arrays) and XCubeSAN (hybrid arrays); ExpressSAS 12Gb HBAs are verified as compatible with QSAN XCubeDAS.
Rubrik Announces Datos IO 3.0
Rubrik announced the latest version of its data protection platform for the world’s most popular NoSQL databases, Rubrik Datos IO 3.0. Highlights of the new version include:
- Rubrik’s investment in Datos IO accelerates the platform’s ability to protect mission-critical, cloud-native applications built on NoSQL databases, including MongoDB and Cassandra
- Rubrik Datos IO’s latest release offers complete hybrid cloud and multi-cloud support, adding Microsoft Azure and Oracle Cloud to existing support for AWS and Google Cloud
- Rubrik Datos IO now available as Docker container and Amazon Machine Image (AMI), targeting microservices-based applications and cloud-native deployments
Datrium Raises $60M In Series D Funding
Datrium announced that it has raised an additional $60 million in Series D funding. This round of funding was lead by Samsung Catalyst Fund, with participation from Icon Ventures, and existing investors NEA and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
Quantum Adopts Excelero’s NVMe-oF Technology For Xcellis
Quantum is using Excelero’s NVMesh technology, along with its StorNExt 6.2 software, for its Xcellis appliances. The combined technologies will accelerate media workflows, especially 4K and 8K videos. The new Xcellis with S3 interface and NVMe storage is available now.
Wasabi Raises $68M In Funding
Wasabi announced that it raised an additional $68 million in Series B funding. What is interesting to note here is that the company decided to forgo the normal venture capitalist route and instead opted to raise money form industry veterans and family offices.
Pivotal Reports 2Q19
Pivotal announced the results of its second quarter for its 2019 fiscal year. The company is reporting a revenue of $164.4 million and a net loss of $0.14/share GAAP and $0.06/share non-GAAP. The company reported that its subscription revenue grew 51% with total subscription customers of 354 grew 19% year-on-year, and customers expanded at a 150% net expansion rate.
ATTO ThunderLink Adapters & FastFram NICs Certified With Avid Shared Storage
ATTO Technology, Inc. announced that its ThunderLink 40GbE and 10GbE Thunderbolt 3 adapters as well as its 40GbE FastFrame NICs have been certified for use with the latest Avid NEXIS shared storage solutions. The certification is just part of the 20-year collaboration the two companies have had. The above-mentioned technologies are all about accelerating workflows to creative and media professionals and the new certification should accelerate their workloads even faster.
Synology Releases Surveillance Station 8.2
Synology officially released the latest version of its popular surveillance software, Surveillance Station 8.2. Highlights and features include:
- Turn phones into cameras with LiveCam: Your mobile device can now be an IP camera. Once LiveCam is installed on your mobile phone, you can add it to Surveillance Station as an IP camera that can record as you go. With this new feature, you can now put your spare devices to good use.
- Application Center that knows just what you need: New style of add-ons called Application Center provides up to 26 applications and utilities. Use the category filter or keyword search to quickly find the application that you are looking for and customize your Surveillance Station.
- Revamped DS cam with extraordinary performance and compatibility: The next generation of DS cam not only provides a more streamlined viewing experience, but also multi-timeline capabilities for intuitively searching through video footage. In addition, with off-line license authentication in place, you can now easily deploy the system at a faster pace.
- Now supports IP speakers: Surveillance Station 8.2 can transmit audio or arrange scheduled broadcasts on integrated IP speakers. In multi-speaker deployment, either single or group broadcast is also available.
- Oversee sizable projects with Time Lapse: Time Lapse shortens lengthy videos down to minutes or even seconds. This application is particularly useful for showing a large-scale project from start to finish.
- Safeguard your data with Dual Authorization: A safer and more flexible privilege management measure, Dual Authorization restricts sensitive functions such as managing cameras or accessing video records to only be performed with authorization from another party. With extra protection in place, this prevents the leaking of sensitive information.
- Stream to the world with Live Broadcast: Share your excitement with the world as you live stream to YouTube with no settings required. Simply select the camera and enter the path information provided on YouTube. Your live stream broadcast is ready for action.
