Unitrends Adds Ransomeware Detection
Unitrends has updated its Recovery Series physical appliances and Backup virtual appliances with three new features: Ransomware Detection, Self-Service for application owners, and Distributed Enterprise Manager. Ransomware Detection uses predictive analytics to determine where ransomware is active, alert admins, and enable legitimate recovery points. Self-Service for application owners allows users to initiate recoveries and manage backups without engaging the entire backup and recovery system. Distributed Enterprise Manager enables global enterprises to centrally manage and monitor thousands of distributed backup appliances.

Marvell has introduced its new Prestera Px Passive Intelligent Port Extender (PIPE) family.

CTERA has announced that it has joined Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s HPE Complete program. This program enables CTERA enterprise file services to be validated to work on HPE products such as 3PAR flash storage, Helion, and Scality solutions running on HPE servers. WD Updates Its My Passport Wireless Pro
WD has updated its popular My Passport Wireless Pro. The latest version bumps the capacity up to a maximum of 4TB and there are some firmware updates that make several improvements including:
- Improved reliability and user experience: Photographers, videographers, and drone pilots can copy or move photos (including RAW formats) and videos (in 4K, High Definition, and Standard Definition), as well as other file types, with the built-in SD 3.0 card reader and dual-function USB port to the hard drive inside. In addition to improved reliability when importing such content from SD cards and compatible devices connected over USB (DSLR cameras, action cameras, flash drives, CompactFlash (CF) card readers, and many more), users can enjoy enhanced compatibility with GoPro HERO4 and HERO5 cameras.

Reduxio Raises An Additional $22 Million In Series C Funding
Reduxio had its best round of funding thus far, adding an additional $22 million in series C funding. This brings its total capital raised to $32 million. The newly raised funds will be funneled into innovation and global marketing.
Druva & Carahsoft Partner For Public Sector Cloud Data Protection
Druva announced that it has partnered with Carahsoft to sell its inSync to the public sector market. Data protection can be difficult on its own, but is a whole other animal when it comes to federal, state and local government agencies and contractors. Druva’s inSync can deliver a U.S. government-compliant cloud environment that adheres to FIPS and ITAR regulations and is built on AWS GovCloud. Carahsoft will be marketing inSync to the public sector.
Seagate & Synology Partner To Bring IronWolf Health Management To Synology’s NAS
Seagate and Synology have partnered to bring Seagate IronWolf Health Management to Synology’s DSM operating system. Available now, the IronWolf Health Management software will keep track of the health of drives in the NAS over the course of their life. The software continuously analyzes key parameters, and intercepts, contains, and resolves issues quickly. The software is aimed at helping users avoid problems before they happen.

Avere Raises An Additional $14 Million In Series E Funding
Avere systems announced that it has raised an additional $14 million in Series E funding. The investors for this round include Menlo Ventures, Norwest Venture Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Tenaya Capital and Western Digital Capital, and new investor Google Inc. Avere intends to use the new funds to drive innovation.
Cisco Completes Its Acquisition Of AppDynamics
Back in January of this year, Cisco announced its intention to acquire AppDynamics. AppDynamics is a privately held intelligence software company. It is primarily used for its cloud application and business-monitoring platform. This week Cisco completed its acquisition for $3.7 billion in cash and assumed equity awards.
