Today Nexenta and Canonical announced that they were furthering their partnership in creating joint solutions for OpenStack environments. The two companies plan to create solutions combining Nexenta’s SDS solution NexentaEdge with Canonical’s Ubuntu OpenStack platform. Both Companies will be attending the OpenStack Summit this year in Austin, TX from April 25-29.

A year ago and the OpenStack Summit Nexenta and Canonical announced a strategic alliance supporting OpenStack customers and accelerating mainstream adoption of both software-defined and OpenStack technologies. Now more than half of all OpenStack deployments are built on Ubuntu (which Canonical is the commercial sponsor of and the leader provider of support services for). Canonical has selected Nexenta in order to help expand its enterprise storage portfolio.

The two companies are integrating NexentaEdge with Juju. NexentaEdge delivers high performance object and block storage services while Juju delivers a high-level service model for automating the deployment and management of applications. This new joint solution provides seamless integration with Canonical OpenStack clouds while using NexentaEdge as its storage solution.

Availability

The new NexentaEdge solution is available now through the Juju charm store.
