All-Flash NX-9000 Appliance
The newest all-flash appliance is designed to run applications with large worksets, such as databases supporting online transaction processing. The NX-9000 is aimed at delivering efficient storage at lower costs by using scale-out compression and deduplication technology to find unused compute resources across the node to avoid bottlenecks. The appliance is highly flexible delivering the right hardware resources for any workload, including different levels of compute and storage capacity, as well as the best storage technology and networking configuration for every deployment. The NX-9000 has a Dual Intel Ivy Bridge E5-2690v2 processor, 6 SSDs (either 800GB or 1.6TB each), up to 512GB of memory, and VM density up to 115 VMs.
Key features include:
- True scale-out storage – customers can increase capacity by adding more nodes, non-disruptively, with no upper limits.
- More efficient performance – data for each appliance is localized, read requests are handled directly avoiding read-heavy traffic and network latency
- Greater application support – delivers high performance for all applications and all I/O sizes
Metro Availability
Metro Availability uses synchronous mirroring to stretch datastores of VM clusters across two or more sites. All functionality is natively integrated and supported across all Nutanix platforms with no hardware changes. Application availability can be maintained during planned and unplanned site downtime and VMs can be migrated between sites during planned maintenance events non-disruptively.
Key features include:
- More flexibility – customers can deploy different configurations for primary and secondary sites, supporting one-to-many and many-to-one topologies
- VM awareness – individual VMs can be mirrored across sites giving administrators the flexibility in configuring multi-site deployments and increasing efficiency
- 2x Greater distance between sites – single datastores can be stretched 400km twice what current systems support
Availability and pricing
The NX-9000 is available now and starts at $110,000 per node.
Metro Availability will become available in the upcoming update to Nutanix Operating System, version 4.1 and will also be included in the Ultimate Edition.
