Today NVIDIA announced a new Cloud Service Provider Partner Program for GRID, which aims to bring graphic acceleration to every cloud. This new partner system will create an ecosystem that will provide customers with universally accessible GPU-cloud services. NVIDIA is also announcing even more hyperconverged infrastructure support.

NVIDIA is almost synonymous with high quality GPUs at this point, so getting into the cloud may seem a bit odd at first glance. However, more and more applications have graphic needs. Since 2011 the amount of applications requiring graphics has doubled. NVIDIA is using its new partner program to deliver GPU-accelerated clouds that will in turn be ideal for desktops, apps and workstations that need accelerated graphics. Not only will end-users had an experience that is as good as being on a physical computer or workstation; the company will have all the benefits of the cloud. Service providers will b able to build their IaaS, DaaS, and Cloud Application services and offer NIVIDIA GRID technology along with these services.

Benefits for NVIDIA partners include:

  • Leveraging NVIDIA as a business partner in their success
  • Creating value-added services that increase customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Access to attractive service provider licensing and discounting
  • Accelerated success with co-branded marketing campaigns
  • Faster ramp of in-house GPU virtualization skills and knowledge
  • NVIDIA support and technology interlock

More and more servers are using NVIDIA GRID technology. In 2016 it was being used by Dell EMC R730 and HPE DL380 Gen9 (which we are currently using for our VDI setup). NVIDIA is announcing today that GRID technology is now being used in Cisco UCS C240 M4. Along with becoming a complement to leading sever configurations, NVIDIA GRID is also being adopted in the HCI arena. In October, Dell EMC VxRail was using NVIDIA GRID and starting today both HPE HC 380 and Nutanix NX-3175-G4/G5 will also be using GRID, Tesla M10 to be more exact.
