Oracle announced the general availability of the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud. This is the first service available based on the company’s Autonomous Database. The Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is stated to deliver industry-leading performance, security, and availability by leveraging machine learning, eliminating human intervention.
According to Oracle, their warehouse database is the world’s most popular but they are still looking for ways to make it better and safer. One element that is hard to plan around is human error or slowness to respond to an issue. With the roll out of its Autonomous Database, not only will it be able to skip over issues that vex people, it will be able to push new boundaries in performance and security, all the while costing less that AWS.
Capabilities include:
- Self-driving: Eliminates human labor and human error to provision, secure, monitor, backup, recover, troubleshoot, and tune the database. Automatically upgrades and patches itself while running.
- Self-securing: Protects from external attacks and malicious internal users. Automatically applies security updates while running to protect against cyberattacks, and automatically encrypts all data.
- Self-repairing: Provides automated protection from all planned and unplanned downtime with up to 99.995 percent availability, resulting in less than 2.5 minutes of downtime per month, including planned maintenance.
Based on years of experience and built off of Oracle Database 18c, the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse Cloud is the first of many products Oracle intends to release. Looking forward, the company intends to launch Oracle Autonomous Analytics, Oracle Autonomous Mobility, Oracle Autonomous Application Development and Oracle Autonomous Integration services during this calendar year.
