Overland Storage has announced the availability of LTO6 technology in the company’s line of NEO Series tape libraries. The new LTO6 technology has increased user storage capacities by more than twice than previous generation technology, providing up to 6.25TB in storage on a single data cartridge, boasting data transfer rates of up to 1.4TB/hr per tape drive.
When LTO6 tape drives are incorporated into a NEO-Series tape library, users can take advantage of storage capacities ranging from 56TB to 6.3PB with the ability to move data at speeds from 576GB/hr to 35TB/hr. Additionally, its embedded LTFS technology provides drag-and-drop tape functionality. Overland Storage believes that LTO 6 tapes will have a significant density advantage, more capacity on a per form factor basis, ease of use with LTFS, and a considerable throughput advantage on a per device basis.
NEO Series tape libraries are built to meet a broad range of data storage requirements throughout the enterprise. Whether it’s a small office, large enterprise, or a remote location, the NEO Series libraries are built with the necessary features, reliability, and affordability to meet the needs of companies in all sizes.
