Patriot has announced it has begun shipping its new Wildfire series SSDs, powered by a SandForce processor. The Wildfire features a SATA 6Gb/s interface and uses 25nm MLC NAND flash memory. It is available in 120GB and 240GB capacities, with a 480GB version on the way.
Patriot has announced it has begun shipping its new Wildfire series SSDs, powered by a SandForce processor. The Wildfire features a SATA 6Gb/s interface and uses 25nm MLC NAND flash memory. It is available in 120GB and 240GB capacities, with a 480GB version on the way.
The Wildfire uses the same SandForce SF-2281 processor as the recently-reviewed OCZ Vertex 3. The company says it has up to 555MB/s sequential read and 520MB sequential write speeds, plus up to 85K 4K random write IOPS.
Pricing and Availability
The Patriot Wildfire series SSDs are shipping now with the latest 3.1.9 firmware. Although the drives are shipping, no pricing information has been announced. Our review sample is en route however – we’ll see how the drive stacks up against the competition.
