Permabit Technology has announced that it has joined the EMC Select Program. Through the partnership, EMC will sell Permabit's plug-and-play inline data efficiency appliance, SANblox, through its sales and reseller channels. New and existing EMC Fibre Channel SANs will now be provided with a ready-to-run, high performance data efficiency appliance.

SANblox utilizes Permabit’s Albireo Virtual Data Optimizer (VDO) and HIOPS Compression software to implement inline data efficiency processing that can be selectively applied to data that can benefit from deduplication or compression as it is written to the array. SANblox works well with a wide range of applications such as mixed virtual server, VDI, Big Data environments, and both OLTP and data warehouse databases. SANblox can be deployed in all-flash, hybrid, and HDD environments in a matter of hours. SANblox is compatible with any storage unit certified to work with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5.

Key features of SANblox include:

  • Inline data reduction
  • Rapid deployment
  • High performance
  • High reliability
  • Ease of use

According to the new partners, EMC customers who purchase SANblox can increase the effective capacity of their SANs by 6X, drop effective cost by up to 85% and increase performance by up to 400%.
