Today Pivotal Software, Inc. announced the new alpha version of its Pivotal Application Service (PAS) on Kubernetes. The company also announced other new products based on PAS features that are aimed at improving the developer and operator experience when using Kubernetes.
Kubernetes has really taken off in a big way, and shows no signs of cooling. Since its release, it has become particularly important as part of cloud infrastructure. A big drawback is that many organizations still see Kubernetes as complex. Pivotal has been working to make Kubernetes more approachable with its Pivotal Container Service (PKS), which enables small teams of operators to manage numerous Kubernetes clusters at scale. The company is now taking all its learned over the years to make it easier for developers to deploy and run software on Kubernetes.
The company rolled out other new Kubernetes-based products based off of PAS features. The two new products announced today include the alpha version of Pivotal Build Service and the alpha version of RabbitMQ for Kubernetes. Both of the new products should be available soon. The new products as well as the alpha version of PAS on Kubernetes will expand the company’s read while simplifying its sales process, and make it easier for organizations to get started with Pivotal.
Products and Capabilities include:
- Build Service: It provides automation for developers to easily create container images, while providing enterprises the audit and security controls necessary to run with confidence at scale.
- RabbitMQ for Kubernetes: It automates deployment and ongoing operations of RabbitMQ, with a self-service and configurability experience available for developers.
- Service Mesh: It automates setup and configuration of Istio, enabling developers to get apps deployed to production quickly, and ensuring the secure networking that enterprises require.
- Spring Runtime: It offers comprehensive support for Java environments—including OpenJDK, Spring Support, and Apache Tomcat.
