Plextor Enters SSD Market with New 64-128GB Models

Plextor is entering the Solid State Disk (SSD) market with its first-generation 64GB and 128GB models, the PX-64M1S and PX-128M1S.


Plextor is entering the Solid State Disk (SSD) market with its first-generation 64GB and 128GB models. The PX-64M1S and PX-128M1S are 2.5-inch SATA II drives. The PX-64M1S has maximum sequential read/write speeds up to 110/65MB/s and the PX-128M1S 130/70MB/s. Other specifications include a 64MB cache and wear-leveling technology. The drives have an MTBF of 1.5M hours and can sustain up to 50,000 power on/off cycles. Power consumption according to Plextor is 0.75W active and 0.25W idle.

The Plextor PX-64M1S and PX-128M1S come bundled with Acronis True Image and carry a 3-year warranty. Pricing and availability have not been announced, but expect to see them on the market this quarter.
