The SSD also comes in a 128GB (PX-128M2S) and 64GB (PX-64M2S) capacities which post read and write speeds of 350MB/s, 180MB/s and 300MB/s, 95MB/s respectively.
Other highlights include power consumption of .75W active and .25W idle, three year warranty, 1.5 million hour MTBF and a copy of Acronis Ture Image included with each drive.
Overall the effort is pretty impressive, considering Plextor’s first effort was squarely in the mainstream SSD market. The intention to go much further upstream with an enthusiast SSD is interesting as they join Corsair in leveraging the Marvell 9174 in a new series of SSDs. Corsair announced better specs, but no launch date or pricing. Plextor will certainly have a fight on their hands as they race Corsair to market.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing guidance was not provided, but the drives are expected to ship in the first quarter of this year.
