PogoPlug Offers 5GB of Free Cloud Storage

by storagereview

Pogoplug, a San Francisco based personal-cloud storage start-up, has started offering 5GB of free cloud storage. The service is aimed at mobile users and supports iPhone and Android, plus some desktop platforms to use with their PogoPlug hardware. The service is what you would expect of any cloud storage, allowing users to stream media or create shared folders on mobile devices and on home or office machines.

The free 5 GB is just a taste of what Pogoplug has to offer. Subscription services are available, about $10 per month for 50 GB or $20 for 100 GB. What makes their service really cool is that, with a bit of Pogoplug’s own hardware, users can connect their own hard drives (up to 2 TB) and function as companion clouds. Examples of cloud storage in action could be keeping a backup of documents in the event of a hard drive failure or just an easier and faster way to share files with friends if you have a slow upload speed.
