Cloud native and Kubernetes are no longer the future, they are the present as well. As more and more organizations turn to these technologies it is more than a good idea to have something up one’s sleeves. Portworx’s Kubernetes Data Services Platform provides persistent storage, high availability, data protection, data security, and cloud mobility for containers deployed in hybrid cloud architectures. They are currently used by companies such as Carrefour, Comcast, GE Digital, Kroger, Lufthansa, and T-Mobile. This acquisition combines the above with Pure’s data platforms and Pure Service Orchestrator software. The combined technology is said to deliver a comprehensive suite of data services that can be deployed in-cloud, on bare metal, or on enterprise arrays, all natively orchestrated in Kubernetes.
There doesn’t seem to be too many details around when the acquisition will be final. However, there is already a deep integration between the two companies and users can reap the benefits today.
