QNAP Systems and Netgate will be showcasing a joint solution at CES 2018 (QNAP Booth No. 40955) with the implementation of pfSense software on QNAP NAS devices. Coupled with QNAP’s participation in the CVE Numbering Authority (CNA) and support of McAfee Antivirus services, both organizations indicate that this will create a new comprehensive security and networking deployment.
QNAP Systems and Netgate will be showcasing a joint solution at CES 2018 (QNAP Booth No. 40955) with the implementation of pfSense software on a QNAP NAS devices. Coupled with QNAP’s participation in the CVE Numbering Authority (CNA) and support of McAfee Antivirus services, both organizations indicate that this will create a new comprehensive security and networking deployment.
To implement Netgate’s pfSense, organizations will use a virtual machine on the QNAP NAS via the company’s Virtualization Station, a full virtualization solution for x86-based QNAP NAS featuring virtualization extensions. This joint solution is a full-featured intrusion-prevention system via pfSense, (with the virtual switch available through QNAP’s QTS operation system), resulting in a quick and easy internal firewall deployment that protects applications running on the NAS.
In addition, QNAP and Netgate intend on collaborating even further for more advanced firewall solutions that address expanded throughput, encryption, and management flexibility—all of which are important to enterprise-class organizations.
