The TS-459U-RP and -SP are part of QNAP’s Business Series Turbo NAS lineup. They are certified as compatible with VMware’s vSphere4 (ESX 4.0 and above) virtualization platform. Feature support for both models includes RAID 0/1/5/5+ hot spare/6 and JBOD with online RAID capacity expansion/expansion/migration/recovery. Other features include DOM architecture with failsafe dual OS, scheduled power on/off, Wake on LAN, and S.M.A.R.T.
Specifications include an Intel Atom D510 dual-core processor (1.66GHz) and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Each unit has 5 USB 2.0 and 2 eSATA ports. The TS-459U-RP and -SP are based on Intel’s recently-announced Atom-based storage platform. The -RP is differentiated from the -SP by containing redundant power supplies.

- SPC-3 Persistent Reservation for clustering in VMware and Hyper-V clusters in Server 2008
- MPIO and MC/S support
- DFS support (Shared Folder Aggregation)
- IPv6 support
- Web File Manager 2
- WebDAV
- Apple Time Machine backup support
The QNAP TS-459-RP and -SP will be available this month from QNAP distributors. Pricing starts at $1,149 for the -SP and $1,349 for the -RP.
