QNAP has announced QuTScloud, the company’s new software-defined cloud NAS solution that allows customers to deploy a QTS NAS operating system to the cloud through a license subscription. QuTScloud supports advanced file management and collaboration that optimizes the usage of data stored on the cloud while giving users the benefits of expected file services and feature-rich NAS functionalities. The new platform also offers hybrid cloud collaboration, pay-as-you-go scalability, and cost-effectiveness.

For deployment, simply set up QuTScloud; purchase a license from the QNAP Software Store; and generate a QuTScloud license key using the QNAP License Manager and initialize QuTScloud. QuTScloud also supports QNAP’s App Center, which offers a range of free apps (as well as paid apps) for boosting QuTScloud functionality and adding more useful features. Some of these include:
- Supports CIFS/SMB, NFS, AFP, and iSCSI protocols for easy file access.
- Windows AD and LDAP integration simplify directory management.
- Data uploaded to major cloud storage (via HBS, HybridMount or VJBOD Cloud) can be mounted in the QuTScloud instance.
- Speedy snapshots and versioning backup and restore responses.
- A comprehensive search engine Qsirch to locate enterprise files instantly.
