QNAP has announced the immediate availability of the company’s new entry-level, yet feature-rich, TS-230 NAS solution. Featuring a baby blue color scheme and a compact build, the TS-230 is designed for home users with daily central storage needs, including back up, photo and video sharing. QNAP’s new NAS is highlighted by multimedia apps, transcoding support and tool-less installation.
The QNAP TS-230 is powered by a Realtek RTD1296 quad-core 1.4 GHz processor with a standard 2GB of DDR4 RAM, quoting read and write speeds reaching 113MB/s. It also comes equipped with a 1Gbit port and supports SATA 6Gbps disk drives, AES-256 encryption, and SSD caching. The cooling fan inside the TS-230 uses an HDB type Sintetico bearing fan for high airflow and low noise experience.
Like all QNAP NAS solutions, the TS-230 is managed by the QTS operating system, which gives users access to a range of file storage, sharing, backup, synchronization, and data protection applications. With it, users can schedule backups of their own OS data (Windows and Mac), while the HBS app can back up NAS data to the cloud. The TS-230 can also create multiple snapshot versions to further protect data against encryption-based locker viruses and can easily recover data back to a specific time. The TS-230 also supports Plex for media streaming and 4K (H.264) real-time transcoding, making it a good start for anyone looking to create a media hub. In addition, the AI-powered QuMagie app streamlines photo management by automatically organizing AI AIbums.
