QNAP has announced the release of the TS-251C Turbo NAS, an affordable 2-bay compact NAS equipped with an Intel Celeron dual-core CPU and 1GB of energy-efficient DDR3L RAM. The TS-251C Turbo NAS allows users to build a personal cloud and media center with features such as real-time/offline Full HD video transcoding, video streaming via DLNA, AirPlay, Chromecast and Plex Media Server, HDMI-out with XBMC media player, and various apps for file and multimedia storage, backup, and sharing.
The TS-251C is quoted with speeds upwards of 112MB/s for both read and write activity, with the ability to maintain this throughput for enhanced data security using AES-256bit volume encryption. In addition, the new QNAP NAS has built-in hardware graphics acceleration with real-time and offline 1080p video transcoding capabilities to convert videos on-the-fly as well as in the background to universal formats, which can be played on computers, mobile devices or Smart TVs without delay. If users have limited Internet bandwidth, they can still play videos by selecting a lower resolution through the File Station, Video Station, or the Qfile mobile app. The TS-251C also allows multiple users to simultaneously watch different videos stored on it without hindering the performance of other applications being used.
In addition, users can connect the TS-251C to an HDTV using an HDMI cable to play videos with the HD Station and XBMC apps. Videos can also be streamed to HDTVs, smartphones and tablet devices using DLNA, AirPlay, Chromecast and Plex Media Server.
With Photo Station, Music Station and Video Station, users can archive, manage and share all of their content collections. The TS-251C can also be used as an all-in-one NAS to centrally organizing files and backups, synchronizing files across various devices, sharing files with different groups and communities, and remotely accessing and managing files on the go using the Qfile, Qmusic, Qphoto, Qvideo, Qmanager and Vmobile mobile apps.
