QNAP has introduced its TS-859U-RP Business Series Turbo NAS enclosure, a 2U rack-mounted unit with eight hot-swappable 2.5- or 3.5-inch hard drives and a redundant power supply. Other features include an Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM.

The TS-859U-RP is fully compatible with VMware’s vSphere4 (ESX 4.0) virtualization platform/cloud operating system. It supports SPC-3 Persistent Reservation in for clustering in VMware and Hyper-V clusters in Windows Server 2008 along with thin-provisioning, MPIO, and MC/S.
The TS-859U-RP is shipped with QNAP’s Version 3.2 of its NAS management software, which now includes DFS support. It is available now from QNAP distributors for an MSRP of $1,889.99 (diskless).
