QNAP Systems has announced the TS-x63U, a new business-class AMD-powered quad-core TS-x63U series NAS designed for SMBs looking for backup, restoration, virtualization storage, and private cloud solutions as well as to future-proof their IT infrastructure for 10GbE networks. Available in 4, 8 and 12-bay models and single and redundant power supply options, the TS-x63U series comes equipped with 10GbE network connectivity using a single-port SFP+ network adapter with the ability to bridge 1GbE devices to a 10GbE network using its four built-in GbE interfaces. The TS-x63U series also features an AES-NI hardware-accelerated encryption engine, SSD cache support, and flexible scalability.
Under the hood lies an advanced 64-bit AMD Embedded G-Series quad-core 2.0GHz SoC processor with 4GB DDR3L RAM, which is upgradable to 16GB. Combined with the four 1GbE LAN ports, QNAP quotes their new NAS series to deliver up to 1,090MB/s sequential read throughput with10GbE configuration for multi-tasking business applications. In addition, the AES-NI hardware encryption engine allows it to reach sequential read performance over 780MB/s with AES 256-bit full NAS volume encryption. It also features the new shared folder encryption supported.
The TS-x63U is compatible with the latest QTS 4.2 operating system, which provides users with comprehensive virtualization applications so users can run them on Windows/Linux/UNIX/Android based virtual machines with the Virtualization Station. In addition, users can operate multiple isolated Linux systems on the NAS and download apps from the built-in Docker Hub Registry by using the Container Station which integrates LXC and Docker lightweight virtualization technologies.
With QTS Storage Manager, users can manage the TS-x63U’s entire capacity as well as quickly create volume/LUN snapshots for easy backup, restoration, and cloning. Users can also expand the total storage of the NAS (which supports up to 24 drives; 192TB total raw capacity with 8TB drives) by connecting one QNAP expansion enclosure (12-bay UX-1200U-RP or 8-bay UX-800U-RP).
The TS-x63U series features cross-platform file sharing for Windows, Mac, and Linux/UNIX users and supports Windows AD, LDAP directory services and Windows ACL, which boosts productivity for permission settings. The TS-x63U also works as a domain controller for Windows and acts as a versatile backup solution for both Windows and Mac and disaster recovery solutions through RTRR, rsync and cloud storage backup.
QNAP also provides users with apps to help improve work efficiency via Qsirch, which speeds up NAS data searching using its powerful near real-time, full-text search engine. Additionally, Qsync adds central configuration mode, Gmail Backup, and remotely erasing Qsync folder features while allowing central management of multiple QNAP NAS units.
