QNAP has announced their new high-performance TVS-hx74 QuTS hero NAS Series (4-bay TVS-h474, 6-bay, TVS-h674 and 8-bay TVS-h874) designed for backup, virtualization, and application servers. Powered by 12th-gen Intel Core multi-core/multi-thread processors, the new series leverages the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system, allowing for block-level inline data deduplication and compression, near-limitless snapshots, and real-time SnapSync. They also feature the PCIe Gen4 interface, M.2 NVMe SSD caching, and 2.5GbE connectivity.

They also feature the PCIe Gen4 interface, M.2 NVMe SSD caching, and 2.5GbE connectivity.
QNAP TVS-hx74 Components
Under the hood, the new TVS-hx74 Series features up to a 12th-gen Intel Core i5-12400 (six-core/12-thread processor with burst up to 4.4 GHz) and 128GB dual-channel DDR4 memory with two 2.5GbE ports that offer speedier connectivity via Port Trunking. The TVS-hx74 Series also comes equipped with dual M.2 2280 PCIe slots, which can boost IOPS performance when SSD caching is configured.
In addition, the PCIe Gen4 slots add further flexibility to the QNAP NAS, including:
- 10/25GbE network adapters, which add faster connectivity
- QM2 cards, which add M.2 SSDs and 2.5GbE/10GbE ports
- entry-level graphics cards, which enable GPU passthrough to virtual machines, and
- storage expansion cards, which can connect QNAP expansion enclosures.
Its HDMI output allows users to directly display multimedia or VM content stored or running on the TVS-hx74.
The ZFS-based QuTS Hero OS and QNAP App Center
The TVS-hx74 Series use the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system. With a focus on data integrity, the ZFS file system is self-healing and WORM (Write Once, Read Many Times) compliant. The OS also supports block-level inline data deduplication and compression technology, which help users to optimize their storage while promoting faster data transfer and longer SSD lifespans. Moreover, it supports up to 65,536 snapshots to fully record system status and data.
As with all QNAP NAS solutions, have the comprehensive App Center at their disposal, which will provide various install-on-demand apps to further expand the application potential of the TVS-hx74.
