Rubrik has announced the launch of Rubrik Cyber Recovery, a tool designed to help organizations improve their cyber readiness and recover faster in the event of an attack. It is part of the Rubrik Security Cloud and aims to provide businesses with a simple way to test, validate, and document their cyber recovery plans.
Rubrik Cyber Recovery – Will the Recovery Plan Work?
One of the key features of Rubrik Cyber Recovery is its ability to validate whether an organization’s cyber recovery plans will work. This includes testing the sequence, timing, and failure points of the recovery playbook. It also allows organizations to track performance metrics to ensure that they are prepared to meet recovery SLAs. This helps to build confidence in the organization’s ability to recover from a cyberattack, as IT and security teams can prove that regular testing of their recovery capabilities is taking place.
Rubrik Cyber Recovery also enables organizations to clone backup snapshots for faster security testing. By quickly cloning snapshots into isolated environments, customers can assess their cyber readiness more efficiently. This allows them to perform destructive tests that can help to enhance their organization’s cyber readiness.
Recover and Investigate
Rubrik Cyber Recovery also allows organizations to conduct forensic investigations in parallel to recovery. If an organization experiences a cyberattack, they can use the tool to investigate infected snapshots in isolated environments while restoring business continuity quickly using a last known good snapshot. This allows them to understand the full extent of an attack and take appropriate action to prevent future incidents, while also minimizing operational downtime.
More Cloud Support
Rubrik also announced both Ransomware Monitoring & Investigation and Sensitive Data Monitoring & Management will support Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint, NAS Cloud Direct, and Azure Virtual Machines.
Market Impact
According to a Rubrik study, 98% of the respondents stated a cyber attack reached their level of awareness within the last year. Further, these professionals were made aware of attacks, on average, 47 times. A little scarier, 52% suffered a data breach, and well over half of all organizations surveyed are “extremely or very likely to pay” the ransom.
Ransomware obviously isn’t going away, attackers are finding it far too profitable to stop. When it comes to protecting your organization, there may not be a perfect answer, whether it’s Rubrik’s solutions highlighted here or anyone else in the space. What these tools do accomplish, however, is twofold. Organizations can get better at planning and testing their recovery, which should make recovery more likely. And sadly, ransomware is very much a volume game, if your organization is a little harder to torment than others, you don’t have to be faster than the bear, just faster than the other people running from it.
