NVM Express is a scalable PCIe host controller interface designed to achieve high performance via a streamlined register interface and command set for both enterprise and client systems. The XS1715 will be available in 400GB, 800GB and 1.6TB versions and has been listed on the NVMe Integrators List, a venue for component suppliers to indicate conformance to the NVMe specification and interoperability with other NVMe products.
The announcement from the Samsung Global SSD Summit comes as Samsung aggressively expands their SSD offerings for both consumer and enterprise environments. Earlier at the Summit Samsung launched the SSD 840 EVO based on their latest generation TLC NAND and highlighted consumer-based PCIe offerings in the gumstick form factor designed for OEMs who make products in the ultra-thin computing space.
