Samsung has announced three new lines of external hard disk drives, including two portable models and a desktop drive. All use the new USB 3.0 port standard, which is up to 10x faster than the current-generation USB 2.0.

The portable drives are available with up to 1TB of capacity. They have a wave-like matte finish which hides scratches and fingerprints. they will be available in four colors: Brown black, Noble beige, Clay orange, and Mist gray.

The premium portable line of hard drives are similar to the standard portable drives but add enhanced backup and security software. They will be offered in a high-gloss case with a multi-layered wave pattern in three colors: Onyx black, Sapphire blue, and Coral pink. The premium drives can be encrypted and password-secured.

A docking station is available for both lines of portable external drives.

The desktop drives resemble the portable drives yet are physically larger since they use 3.5" desktop drives instead of 2.5" notebook drives. They will be offered in 1TB, 1.5TB, and 2TB capacities. Available colors include Brown black and Noble beige.

Pricing will be announced when the drives are made available in April.
