Samsung has announced it is now shipping its Spinpoint MT2 2.5-inch hard drive with 750GB and 1TB capacities.
Samsung has announced it is now shipping its Spinpoint MT2 2.5-inch hard drive with a 1TB capacity. It has three platters, each with a 333GB capacity. Specifications include a 5400RPM spindle speed, 8MB buffer, and SATA 3.0Gbps interface.
Samsung claims the MT2 has 20% increased read/write performance and 4% lower power consumption compared to competing drives. The MT2 is also designed to be quiet, featuring Samsung’s SilentSeek and NoiseGuard technologies.
The MT2 has a 12.5mm height, unlike most notebook hard drives which are 9.5mm. Those interested in using this drive in a notebook computer should check for compatibility with their particular notebook.
The Spinpoint MT2 series is shipping now in 750GB and 1TB models.
