Today at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, Seagate Technology plc announced new drives for consumers. These including the gaming drives Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSD and the BarraCuda Fast SSD. The new drives are all about performance leveraging NVME and USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 for more speed.
A little bit ago, Seagate released its FireCuda Gaming Dock. This 4TB hub used Thunderbolt 3 cables to allow users to connect everything and gain extra storage in the process. The new FireCuda Gaming SSD works as an excellent companion. The drive leverages the company’s FireCuda NVMe 510 SSD and a SuperSpeed USB 20Gb/s (USB 3.2 Gen2×2) interface, delivering read speeds of up to 2.0GB/s. The FireCuda comes in capacities from 500GB up to 2TB. The FireCuda also comes with customizable RGB LED lighting for those that like to fancy-up their gaming experience.
A more cost-effective portable gaming drive announced today is the Seagate BarraCuda Fast SSD. Also offered in the same capacities, the BarraCuda is a external SATA SSD with speeds up to 540MB/s. The drive leverages USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C for connectivity and is PC and Mac compatible.
Availability and Pricing
The FireCuda Gaming SSD will be available in March will including a 5-year warranty and has a MSRP of $189.99 (500GB), $259.99 (1TB), and $499.99 (2TB). The BarraCuda Fast SSD is expected to be available next month with a 3-year warranty and MSRPs of $94.99 (500GB), $169.99 (1TB), and $299.99 (2TB).
