Seagate has announced their latest 2.5" enterprise hard drive, the 600GB Savvio 10K.4 (model #ST9600204SS). Aside from offering the highest capacity in the 2.5" form factor, Seagate is also claiming the most reliable crown too, with 2 million hour MTBF.

Seagate has announced their latest 2.5" enterprise hard drive, the 600GB Savvio 10K.4 (model #ST9600204SS). Aside from offering the highest capacity in the 2.5" form factor, Seagate is also claiming the most reliable crown too, with 2 million hour MTBF.
The 6Gb/s SAS drives feature 10,000 RPM spindle speed, self-encryption options and PowerChoice, which lets the drive consumer less power during idle times.
IT professionals are enthusiastic about the potential of the combined small footprint and high availability. Howard Shoobe, senior manager, Dell Storage Product Management said, "The new 2.5-inch 10K-rpm 600GB capacity point allows a doubling of capacity within the same rack space of current 3.5-inch 15K 600GB drives while increasing overall system-level performance and decreasing power usage."
The ST9600204SS is shipping now with a retail price of around $600.
