Seagate has announced the Seagate Wireless, a battery-powered 500GB portable wireless drive designed for streaming and offloading media from mobile devices. The new Seagate Wireless provides consumers with a new way to carry more space with their mobile devices and provides a solution to stream HD video on Android Tablets or Smartphones, iPads, iPhones, Kindle Fires, Windows 8 computers and Windows RT tablets.

Seagate Wireless storage features up to 9 hours of battery life and is accessed through the free mobile Seagate Media app, which it uses to connect to new wireless solution via a Wi-Fi connection. Users simply connect to the drive by searching for Seagate Wireless in available Wi-Fi networks from any device allowing users to stream up to three devices at once. The drive also emits its own Wi-Fi signal, eliminating the need to be within range of an existing network connection.

In addition, the Seagate wireless works with Airplay, Roku, and the Chromecast TV App and is specifically designed for Samsung and LG Smart TVs. The new Seagate Wireless drive also comes in a range of colors, including lime green, cool blue, slate grey, fire-engine red and white.

Pricing and Availability

Seagate Wireless will be available from Amazon, Best Buy, and Seagate.com sometime in early February with a price tag of $129.99. Seagate Media app is currently available for free.
