SIOS Protection Suite version 9.5 for Linux includes intelligent application availability tools and utilities. SIOS Protection Suite automates configuration, validates user input, and provides application monitoring to help customers set up and manage failover policies. Two of the tools included in SIOS Protection Suite are SIOS LifeKeeper and SIOS DataKeeper. SIOS LifeKeeper is a failover clustering software that monitors the entire application stack and orchestrates application-aware failover. SIOS DataKeeper is a host-based, block-level data replication tool for mirroring local storage in a SANless cluster configuration or replicating data offsite for disaster recovery. The latest update of SIOS Protection Suite also adds system cloning capabilities. The new cloning tool enables easy deployment of SIOS clusters and makes it much easier to use consistent, predefined settings throughout your network. The cloning tool, like the rest of SIOS Protection Suite for Linux, offers support for SQL Server, Oracle OS, Oracle Database, MySQL, SAP, S4/HANA, and other applications.
One of the major reasons for releasing a new version was to provide support to the latest Linux operating systems and databases. Unfortunately, SIOS is lagging a minor version behind on Red Hat. 9.5 supports only up to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9.1, while RHEL has already released 9.2. RHEL 9.2 came out just a few weeks ago, unlucky timing for SIOS. SIOS is fully up to date with CentOS, adding support for 8.0 and 8.1.
