Datadobi, an expert in providing management and migration of unstructured data at scale, now updates StorageMap to manage orphaned data.
StorageMap is a vendor-neutral management tool that has provided the capabilities to discover, organize, and act on unstructured data at scale, providing insights into cost, and risk as well as understanding the impact of data on businesses.
Further, StorageMap provides unstructured data management capabilities across storage vendors, providing a single pane of glass instead of having to resort to multiple vendor-specific tools, all with different capabilities. This single pane of glass normalizes the information presented which provides a more consistent understanding of the unstructured data in an organization.
Version 6.2 builds on these capabilities, by adding the ability for StorageMap to manage orphaned data.
Orphaned data is that which has no active employee account ownership, and which can represent significantly higher cost and risk to an organization. Properly managing this data can enable organizations to obtain more value from their storage infrastructures. Once the data has been identified and classified, automated actions may then be taken on the data, such as migrating to a lower tier, replicating, synchronizing, or deleting.
