Supermicro demonstrated its new solution for SAP HANA for scale-up in-memory environments at SAPPHIRE NOW, Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando on May 7 to 9. Based on the Supermicro 4-Way MP server, the 2U, 4-Way 2049U-TR4 SuperServer allows for real-time On Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) and On Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) on the same system. SAP HANA (or high-performance analytic appliance) is an in-memory, column-oriented database technology that promotes the processing of enormous amounts of real-time data very quickly.

Supermicro’s new SuperServer is designed for the most demanding, mission-critical workloads and supports 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with up to 112 cores in one system. It combines Intel Optane DC persistent memory with DRAM to create an affordable large-scale memory, which offers data persistence in the scale-up environment and improves SAP database restart times by a factor of 12.5.
This SAP HANA solution also streamlines scale-up environment deployments by offering pre-tested and verified hardware designed by the collaborative efforts of Intel, SAP and Supermicro. Supermicro is also extending the solution by developing sizing options through the SAP HANA Tailored Datacenter Integration (TDI) model. This will be part of an upcoming Intel Select Solution for SAP HANA, which is slated for availability during the third quarter of 2019.
