The new units are designed to be quiet and power friendly, offering noise dampening features and drawing just 18 watts in use. The new more modern case design also features larger fans for keeping hard drives cool. The DS212+ and the DS212 additionally offer wake on LAN (WOL) support and USB 3.0 ports, the first Synology NAS units to feature USB 3.0.
Like all Synology solutions, these 2-bay systems will ship with DiskStation Manager 3.2, which offers a ton of sharing, backup, media and security functions, along with mobile applications to access your DiskStation on the go.
