Synology has been on quite a refresh spree lately, this time it’s their five bay DS1512+ that’s getting a facelift. The DS1512+ gets USB 3.0 ports, user-replaceable fans and passive CPU cooling. The NAS also comes with the latest DiskStation Manager software, version 4.0 and is compatible with the 5-bay DX510 expansion boxes, for total capacity up to 60TB.

The NAS also comes with the latest DiskStation Manager software, version 4.0 and is compatible with the 5-bay DX510 expansion boxes, for total capacity up to 60TB.
The DS1512+ features a Dual Core 2.13GHz processor and 1GB of RAM, expandable to 3GB. The drive bays support 2.5" and 3.5" drives, with total capacity of 20TB using 4TB hard drives with hard drive performance topping out at 200 MB/s read and 195 MB/s write. Other highlights include compatibility with VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix Xen, two eSATA ports, two Ethernet ports and six total USB ports, two of which are USB 3.0.
The Synology DS1512+ is shipping now with a suggested price of $799.99 without disks.
