Synology has announced the immediate availability of the DiskStation DS1520+, a 5-bay storage system for home and small office environments. The DS1520+ is designed for data backup and organizing multimedia libraries, and is highlighted by its ability to scale so users can create a personal cloud with ample space.
Synology has announced the immediate availability of the DiskStation DS1520+, a 5-bay storage system for home and small office environments. The DS1520+ is designed for data backup and organizing multimedia libraries, and is highlighted by its ability to scale so users can create a personal cloud with ample space.
The Synology DS1520+ is powered by an Intel Celeron Processor J4125 (4-core 2.0 GHz, burst up to 2.7 GHz) and is outfitted with dual M.2 2280 NVMe SSD cache slots and four 1GbE network ports. The five bays support both HDDs and SSDs of up to 16TB, while users can expand the total capacity via Synology’s expansion units for a maximum raw capacity of 240TB.
The DS1520+ also supports Synology’s cross-office file syncing and sharing solution, which allows users to seamlessly synchronize data across individual sites. This makes large and most-frequently-used files available on local networks. Users can also set sharing permissions to make sure only the necessary files are available to specific users. In addition, the new DiskStation supports Synology DSM, which includes multimedia management, hyper/desktop backup options, snapshot replication, the surveillance station, and virtual machine manager.
