Synology has launched DiskStation DS215j, their newest 2-bay NAS server designed for home and personal users to manage data, stream media contents, synchronize files on the cloud, while keeping their content safe and secure.
Synology has launched DiskStation DS215j, their newest 2-bay NAS server designed for home and personal users to manage data, stream media contents, synchronize files on the cloud, while keeping their content safe and secure.
The DS215j is comes equipped with a dual-core processor featuring Floating-Point Unit (FPU), allowing for multitasking and multimedia processing. In addition, this platform upgrade gives the DS215j the ability to boast average read speeds over 111MB/sec as well as average write speeds over 87MB/sec. These performance numbers are a 19% gain in writing compared to its predecessor, all the while keeping its power consumption as low as 13.4 watts in full operation and 5.3 watts when hard drive is in hibernation. The DS215j also adds a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface.
Synology Surveillance Station gives the DS215j a full network video-recorder feature set. It supports up to 10 channels of simultaneous high-definition footage, which can stream at 240 FPS in 720p. The DS215j also comes with 2 free IP camera licenses and is compatible with up to 10 cameras, making it a well-suited surveillance solution for homes and small offices.
Synology's QuickConnect is ideal for users who work within a network environment that lacks a public IP address or the ability to configure port-forwarding by providing a relay service for users to access the DS215j from anywhere, even when it’s hidden in a local area network. With a customizable QuickConnect ID, users can log in to their DS215j through a DSM browser interface, Synology desktop utilities, and mobile apps. In addition, Synology offers mobile apps that provide users the full variety of their multimedia library on the go.
The DS215j uses DiskStation Manager (DSM) 5.1, Synology’s intuitive operating system, which offers a plethora of applications to improve productivity at work as well as a comprehensive selection of multimedia features.
