DiskStation DS713+
The DS713+ can quickly scale up to 28TB of raw storage by taking advantage of the DX513 expansion module. With speeds of up to 202.3 MB/s read and 135.84 MB/s write, as well as its two USB 3.0 ports, it gives users the ability to transfer data to and from external disks faster than ever before. Additionally, the DS713+’s dual NICs allow for link aggregation, which improves throughput in multi-user environments.
The DS713+ ships with Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) 4.1 allowing users to focus on productivity while simplifying system management. The DSM operating system features many business-friendly attributes.
Synology RS3413xs+
Synology also announced the first model in its new XS+ series of network attached storage, the RS3413xs+. The new XS+ series is built for high performance at an affordable price. By using two RX1211RP expansion modules, it can quickly scale up to 34 bays or up to 136 raw storage. The RS3413xs+ can attain speeds of up to 390,000 read IOPS and includes four gigabit Ethernet ports and supports the addition of a 10 GB Ethernet card. Additionally, it is the first Synology release that supports SSD caching to improve throughput while still maximizing storage size by using platter drives.
The RS3413xs+ supports both iSCSI and NFS and is ideally suited for storage in virtual networks. It is certified for VMware vSphere 5, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 with Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer. Additionally, it also has VAAI integration, which includes Hardware Assisted Locking (ATS), Block Zero, Full Copying, and Thin Provisioning.
Additional features of both units include:
- Cloud Station keeps files in sync between local and remote assets, without port forwarding
- An updated Package Center allows users to install productivity tools from both Synology and from technology partners
- Increased administrative control to allow prioritizing and throttling by user, group, and service
- Support for VMware’s vSphere 5, including VAAI
- Support for ADS domains up to 100,000 users and groups
- ACL support for NTFS-style permissions down to the file level
- In-line ACL editor to quickly and accurately assign permissions, even without a PC
- Surveillance Station 6 allows for monitoring and recording up to 20 cameras at once
