Synology is now shipping their DS1515+ (5 bays) and DS1815+ (8 bays) DiskStation units, its newest Plus series multi-bay NAS designed to facilitate intensive data exchange, collaboration, and reliable backups for small and medium-sized businesses.

The new DS1515+ and DS1815+ come equipped with an Intel Atom processor C2000 family 2.4GHz quad-core processor that has Intel AES New Instructions (Intel AES-NI) encryption as well as a RAM module that is expandable to 6GB. Both scalable models are built to execute demanding tasks, which are required for businesses working with sensitive data and virtualization environments.
Featuring four Gigabit LAN ports supporting Link Aggregation and failover reducing downtimes, Synology’s new Plus series can perform over 420MB/s for the DS1815+ and 390MB/s for the DS1515+, which is almost twice the speed of their respective predecessors. Both NASs can exceed 450MB/s in reading speeds, which makes them ideal for handling requests from a large number of users simultaneously. In addition, the DS1515+ and DS1815+ can be scaled up to a raw capacity of 90TB and 108TB respectively by connecting DX513 expansion units through eSATA connections.
Both models also support Synology High Availability (SHA) and leverage multiple LAN ports to ensure uptime and resiliency. Its SSD read/write cache support allows organizations attain improved throughput all the while minimizing the cost per gigabyte. Additionally, the NAS systems are designed to be easily integrated into a company's virtualization environment and act as a powerful central storage.
