Synology Releases Diskstation Manager 3.2 Software

Synology America Corp. has announced that the beta program for its DiskStation Manager 3.2 software has ended. The program, compatible with the company’s DiskStation NAS units from the x08 series and onward, can now be downloaded as a release version. The company reports that more than 60,000 copies were downloaded during the beta program which should calm the nerves of owners nervous about putting beta software into production.

The program, compatible with the company’s DiskStation NAS units from the x08 series and onward, can now be downloaded as a release version. The company reports that more than 60,000 copies were downloaded during the beta program which should calm the nerves of owners nervous about putting beta software into production.

This version of DiskStation Manager features the ability to act as either a LDAP directory server or a client on an existing domain. Centralized logging is possible using the Syslog server package. Multiple network CIFS shares can be aggregated under a single access point using a service called Remote Folder while ISOs for remote installations can be mounted via the service that’s been named Virtual Drive. The software Is compatible with Mac OS X Lion and features an upgraded AFP engine. It’s also compatible with the latest version of Time Machine as well.

The company has introduced or upgraded a number of features meant to assist administrators working remotely via mobile devices. The software supports the CalDAV protocol which allows Mac, iOS and Mozilla Thunderbird users to sync calendars remotely and there is built in support for Google’s Cloud Print as well as Apple’s AirPrint.
