Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. has announced a new enterprise 6Gbit/s SATA solid-state drive (SSD) series, the HK4. The HK4 series is designed for read-intensive and value-endurance workloads and are Toshiba’s first enterprise SSD to embed 15nm MLC NAND flash memory. The drives include low latency tuned for high quality of service (QoS).
Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. has announced a new enterprise 6Gbit/s SATA solid-state drive (SSD) series, the HK4. The HK4 series is designed for read-intensive and value-endurance workloads and are Toshiba’s first enterprise SSD to embed 15nm MLC NAND flash memory. The drives include low latency tuned for high quality of service (QoS).
The series comes in two flavors: the HK4R Series that is read-intensive and runs up to 1.92TB in capacity. This series is aimed at enterprise applications such as web servers, files servers, media streaming, video-on-demand, search engines and warm data storage. And there is the value endurance flavor, the HK4E. This drive comes in capacity up to 1.6TB and offers an endurance level of three DWPD3. The HK4E was designed with mixed workloads in mind. The HK4 series is also the first SATA SSD with optional Trusted Computing Group (TCG) enterprise encryption support and is also equipped with Toshiba’s QSBC (Quadruple Swing-By Code) error technology.

Availability
The Toshiba HK4 Series comes with a 5-year limited warranty and is available now with a self-encrypting version expected in April of 2016.
