Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD) has announced the 500 GB Canvio Slim Portable Hard Drive, their smallest portable hard drive yet, measuring in at only nine millimeters thick. This slim, compact drive comes in a brushed aluminum design, available in either black or silver. Additionally, its built-In USB 3.0 (backwards 2.0 compatible) interface significantly improves performance for large media file transfers and backups.

Additionally, its built-In USB 3.0 (backwards 2.0 compatible) interface significantly improves performance for large media file transfers and backups.To solve compatibility issues between systems, the Canvio Slim has a NTFS driver for Mac, which allows users to store and access files from both PC and Mac without having to reformat.
Easy Backup
The Slim is equipped with Backup Now EZ software that makes backup simple and easy. The package provides a system scan that recommends the best type of backup coverage. Users have the option of backing up files to the cloud, backing up files and folders to the Canvio Slim, backing up anything saved on the computer, or all three.
The drive comes with a three-year limited warranty and a single 500GB capcaity.
Pricing and Availability
The Canvio Slim will be available in October 2012 at selected retailers and ToshibaDirect.com for an MSRP of $114.99.
