Toshiba Japan has announced the X-Blade Gale SSD which uses the same interface as the new MacBook Air SSD. Designed for ultra-portable notebooks and other compact computing environments, the X-Blade Gale comes in capacities of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB with speeds of up to 220MB/s read and 180MB/s write.

The drives are all 108.9mm long, 24mm wide and 2.2mm (64GB, 128GB) or 3.7mm (256GB) high. With the skinny elongated shape, Toshiba has put additional engineering into the PCB to make sure it hold up well to heat when in use.
