Veeam announces updates to Veeam Data Cloud Vault on Microsoft Azure.
Veeam Software has announced significant updates to its Veeam Data Cloud Vault, a fully managed, secure, cloud-based storage service. Leveraging Microsoft Azure, this service enables businesses to store offsite backups of critical data and applications, enhancing business resilience.
In partnership with Microsoft, Veeam has launched two new Veeam Data Cloud Vault updates featuring affordable, all-inclusive pricing. These new versions aim to tackle the challenges of forecasting costs and help users avoid unexpected expenses typically associated with customer-managed cloud storage. Veeam Data Cloud Vault now integrates seamlessly with the Veeam Data Platform, making offsite backups that are immutable and secure easier for Veeam users. The update will be showcased at Microsoft Ignite.
Microsoft Azure Blob Cool Storage Integration
Despite the clear advantages of cloud storage, such as enhanced security and scalability, many organizations face barriers like cost predictability, operational efficiency, and specialized knowledge needed for setup and management. Veeam Data Cloud Vault tackles these issues by integrating with Microsoft Azure Blob Cool Storage, making data backup storage management straightforward and cost-effective. This solution provides users with a reliable, logically air-gapped, immutable, and encrypted offsite location to securely store backup data, boosting protection and ensuring quick recovery when necessary. Additionally, Veeam Data Cloud Vault minimizes downtime with rapid restoration to on-premises systems and Azure VMs.

Niraj Tolia, Chief Technology Officer at Veeam, highlighted the value of a secure, cost-effective path to data resilience in today’s risk-prone digital landscape. He emphasized that Veeam Data Cloud Vault offers secure, hassle-free cloud storage that eliminates unpredictable pricing while reinforcing Veeam’s partnership with Microsoft. By introducing predictable, low-cost cloud storage, Veeam aims to strengthen its position as a global leader in data resilience, providing a solution that addresses the specific needs of Veeam users. Tolia noted that the two new editions and integration with Veeam Data Platform amplify the value of Veeam’s collaboration with Microsoft, leveraging the extensive capabilities of Azure.
Aung Oo, Vice President of Azure Storage at Microsoft, added that integrating Veeam’s Vault with the Veeam Data Platform helps customers safeguard their data more effectively amid rising cyber threats. Built on Azure’s secure and regionally diverse cloud infrastructure, Veeam Data Cloud Vault enables organizations to meet data residency and compliance requirements while benefiting from a comprehensive anti-ransomware solution. This collaboration combines Azure’s security with Veeam’s business continuity and disaster recovery expertise, creating a robust, end-to-end solution.
Zero Trust
Adopting a Zero Trust Data Resilience (ZDTR) approach, Veeam Data Cloud Vault extends Zero Trust principles to organizations’ backup environments. This approach aligns with the 3-2-1-1-0 data protection strategy, safeguarding against cyber threats and strengthening data integrity and availability.
Key benefits of the new Veeam Data Cloud Vault include:
- Security and Durability: Veeam Data Cloud Vault, a storage-as-a-service (STaaS) offering, ensures data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Built on a Zero Trust storage architecture, it provides immutable, encrypted, and air-gapped storage with up to 12 nines of durability, guarding against data center failures. Veeam’s advanced security measures protect against cyber threats, primarily targeting backup repositories.
- Predictability: Veeam Data Cloud Vault offers a flat, per-terabyte pricing structure across two editions, covering read/write requests and egress fees, allowing organizations to manage costs better while leveraging secure, cloud-based storage.
- Simplified Management: The fully managed, pre-configured cloud storage integrates directly with the Veeam Data Platform interface, bridging skills gaps by offering on-demand access. Users can easily procure, provision, monitor, and restore Veeam Vaults directly from Veeam Data Platform to both on-premises and Azure VMs.
With two new editions, Foundation and Advanced, Veeam Data Cloud Vault brings predictable pricing to the market, starting at $14 per terabyte.
